Coming to Squamish Vegan Festival Alone? Here’s How We’ll Support You
We have many elements in place to support those who are coming alone.
we strive to be as inclusive as possible, ensuring that everyone feels welcome & no one feels left out of anything.
The vision of Squamish Vegan Festival is to provide a space for people to strengthen connections with like-minded people naturally and with ease.
most of our facilitators will be specifically catering to this by initiating & supporting groupings & conversations in their workshops & classes. HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES:
Opening Circle - group introductions, grounding into the space together & some guided partnering with light greetings.
Acro-yoga classes & Thai massage workshops with Nicole Scott & Josh Green - Ice breaker warm-up exercises, switching groups of 2 - 3 people & facilitation support in grouping people where needed.
Pottery workshops and mobile studio with Liz Sax Ceramics - A cozy spot set up all weekend to chill (she will have a couch there at her Boler studio), to talk about art and play on the pottery wheel. Liz will also be facilitating group connections in her workshops (where you get to make your own little spoons & slugs to take home).
Slacklines - these will be set up all weekend alongside a large space net (like a hammock), which is a great spot to rest in the trees and say hi to a neighbour. Our slacklining lessons will also be supportive of talking, sharing, learning a new skill and connecting.
Conscious convos, breathwork & ecstatic dance with Konscious Kitties - Question-card-guided small group discussions to make you think and laugh, and an experience guided by the question 'What difference can you make?".
Animal rights activism workshops (a 3-part on-going series throughout the weekend) with Cloe Sousa - a great way to have small group discussions over shared values and goals.
OM chanting with Anastasia Parutina - a vocal, non-talking way to connect & ground in with the group.
Aerial arts with Squamish Circus Collective - a playful way to express yourself and try something new in small groups of 3-6 people.
There's so much more, too: community song circles, fan flow workshops, DJ dance parties (all activities are included in your entry pass) and of course, we can always connect over FOOD!
Tera V Burgers will be making loaded fries, vegan nuggets, samosas & platters.
On tap at the bar: hoochy booch, Howe sound brewing & geo cider - cheers to delicious cold bevvies & new friends!
Seeing people at multiple activities naturally helps to break down barriers to connection, and having mindful facilitators that support group activities & discussions just seals the deal!
We have other offerings of value that do not have a facilitated group-connection element (but of course still energetically nurture it), like meditation, live music, DJs, a food demo with Vegan Family Kitchen, and a vegan carbs 101 talk with registered dietician Desiree Nielsen (plus a book signing of her brand new, instant top-seller, Plant Magic)!
